FAQs
Can the hair be straightened or curled?
Yes, the hair can be heat styled. However, please note that while you can straighten or curl the extensions, they will not achieve a perfectly pin-straight look. Heat styling can reduce the lifespan and curl pattern of the hair.
How long does the hair last?
With proper care, the hair lasts anywhere from 5 months to 1 year+
Can I return or exchange hair?
Please note that since this is human hair, no two bundles will be exactly alike — curl patterns and colours will naturally vary.
-
Custom Orders & Pre-Orders: All custom orders and pre-orders are final sale.

Do I need special shampoo and conditioner?
We suggest using a moisturizing, salon-grade shampoo and conditioner that is sulfate- and paraben-free. Avoid products containing alcohol, as these can dry out the hair and affect its quality
How do I keep my hair extensions from drying out?
Since hair extensions don’t receive natural nutrients from the scalp, they require extra moisture and care. To keep them hydrated:
-
Weekly Hair Mask: Use a nourishing, salon-grade hair mask once a week to restore moisture.
-
Daily Hair Oil: Apply a hydrating hair oil to the ends daily to prevent dryness.
These treatments will help your extensions stay soft, smooth, and healthy-looking.
How do I care for my extensions?
Curly Hair Extensions Care Tips
-
Sleep Care: Never sleep with wet hair. Before bed, put your hair in a loose ponytail or braid to prevent tangling and frizz.
-
Brushing & Detangling: Always brush from the bottom up, gently working through any tangles. For curly hair, it’s best to separate the bonds and brush gently before showering. In the shower, detangle and brush with conditioner to minimize breakage.
-
Limit Heat Styling: Frequent heat styling can shorten the life of your extensions. When styling is necessary, always use a heat protectant.
-
Daily Moisture: Apply a nourishing oil to the ends daily to keep them hydrated and prevent dryness.
-
Washing Guidelines: Use a salon-grade shampoo and conditioner that is sulfate- and paraben-free. Wash and rinse with cool to warm water (not hot), and limit washing to 1-3 times per week.
-
Weekly Deep Conditioning: Treat your extensions to a nourishing hair mask once a week to maintain moisture and softness.
Why have my extensions turned pink/orange/green?
Blonde hair, including extensions, can be sensitive to certain chemicals, requiring extra care to prevent discoloration. While colour changes can occur in all hair shades, blonde extensions are particularly prone to these issues. If you notice your extensions turning brassy, peachy, or pink, it’s usually due to a chemical reaction that alters their pigmentation.
Factors That Can Cause Discoloration:
-
Water Quality: Minerals like iron can turn hair orange, while copper can cause a green tint.
-
Sunscreens: Products containing avobenzone and octocrylene can affect hair colour. Mineral sunscreens are best and make sure to check ingredient list.
-
Chlorine and Sea Water: Swimming in chlorinated pools or saltwater can lead to discoloration.
-
UV Exposure: Sun or sunbed exposure can fade hair colour.
-
Hair Oils: Some oils, particularly those with yellow or amber hues, can alter the colour of lighter extensions over time. Be cautious with:
-
Argan Oil: May deposit subtle yellow tones.
-
Olive Oil: Can have a greenish-yellow effect.
-
Jojoba Oil: Naturally yellow and can subtly change light extensions.
-
Additionally, some strongly pigmented shampoos, conditioners, and lotions may stain extensions. Sweat and various aftercare products can also contribute to discoloration.
At Elite Curl Extensions, we cannot accept responsibility for hair that has turned pink, orange, brassy, or green. Our aftercare guidelines clearly outline what to avoid. Remember, extensions are a natural product, and while they may fade over time, some shades do so more quickly than others.
Why are my hair extensions shedding and breaking?
-
Heat Exposure: heat styling tools like straighteners and curlers can damage hair extensions, leading to shedding over time.
-
Chemical Damage: If the bonds of your extensions come into contact with products high in alcohol, oils, or sulfates, it can weaken the bonds, causing them to disintegrate and result in shedding.
Can I colour the hair extensions?
You can dye your extensions, but we do not recommend it. The hair has already undergone treatments to achieve its specific shade and curl pattern, so the results can be unpredictable.
If you decide to color the hair, we advise performing a strand test on a couple of pieces first. Keep in mind that dyeing or toning the hair will likely decrease its lifespan, and Elite Curl Extensions will not be responsible for the outcome.
